We already have a web person/company. Why would we need your help as well?
If you're paying your web developer, you are likely paying many times more than we will charge to do the same job. In most cases you can continue to have the web developer provide you changes and enhancements to your web site while having us provide you with updates to your site weekly. Let us know who your developer is and we'll make sure that we keep things working well ... but at a reduced cost. If you're not paying your web developer then read the answer below.
Our web person doesn't charge us. Why would we want to pay you to do the updates?
If your web developer is doing your web site updates as a volunteer, there will likely be times, perhaps frequently, when he or she will not keep the site completely up to date. Because you're paying us to provide you a service we're obligated to keep your site up to date, all the time, with all the changes you send to us. Keeping volunteers motivated, especially when they get busy around the holidays (over the summer, or at Christmas) can be hard.
If your web developer isn't doing updates regularly but just periodically making a few changes to the site, then we will likely be able to work with them to keep the site even more current and informative but at very little cost.
I already have a web site. Do I need to change it?
No, not the basic structure, but you do want to keep it up to date. We would work with your existing site and simply ensure that it stays up to date with current information. If your site just has static information like your address and phone number, we might suggest adding a few pages that will allow you to keep a list of current activities available for people visiting the site, making it far more effective and able to provide you with more value than it currently does.
Consider someone who is just moving into your community, looking on the web for a church or club that has the kinds of programs they need. If your site just has your address and phone number, they will likely move on to the next group before even giving you a try. Keeping events listed on your site is a great way to communicate that your group is active and has the kinds of activities they might want.
Can I put my maintenance contract on credit?
Yes, you can charge your maintenance contract on your VISA, MasterCard, or American Express credit card. We can also arrange other options if needed. Contact us and we'll work out a solution that fits your needs.
What if the work I request exceeds my 10 page alotment?
If it is a one time occurance and only goes over by a few pages we will simply do that for you. The 10 page limit is the average number of changes per month, so if some months you only have 2 or 3 changes then you'll have plenty to spare.
Alternately, we might suggest that you keep some of the changes until the next month or pay for additional work on a one time basis (which will be charged separately).
What is your minimum time charge for a maintenance request? Because the contract is a flat fee, we do not charge for time spent unless it is outside the normal scope of work included in the maintenance contract.
How do I submit changes for my website?By email preferably, although by fax will be accepted.
In an emergency you can phone in a request but we request that you submit a written confirmation as soon as possible.
What services can I get as part of my maintenance contract?
Changes to content, basic layout, insertion of new text, photos, or other elements not requiring significant reconstruction of the site. Some minor editing of scripting or programming may also be covered.
In some cases, new pages can be added if those additions use existing templates or layouts, and do not require changes to programming or scripting.
If you are unsure if a service is available through your contract, please contact us to clarify prior to requesting the change.
What is NOT covered by my maintenance contract? Hosting (unless the $35 package is chosen); domain registration charges (available for $20/year); programming beyond minor editing; anything that is not directly related to the maintenance of your website such as graphics, site design or site redesign.
Of course, we'll always try and ensure we provide any service not covered by your contract at the lowest possible price to make it affordable for you.
